The black ice, or falling ice, or "verglas" if you prefer.

Looking outside, it's raining ice, or you could say it's a "pluie verglaçante" in french. I always remember 1998 when I see that, since that was the year where the icestorm was so big, a lot of people were forced to leave their homes due to a lack of electricity. I was one of the fortunate kids to lose only lose electricity for one hour, unlike other peoples who losed it for days on end. At that time, that one hour, I was really scared. I seriously didn't want to leave my home, but we didn't need to, so that's good.
Anyways, I do remember that time for two other reasons, these two are minor compared to the other one, but I'd like to share them anyway. I remember I was playing DKC2 when the electricity went out. Before I went scared, I was really pissed, since I was in the final world with no savepoint in the horison (Keep in mind, that was on the actual console!), so when the electricity went back on, I resisted the temptation to go back to that game that I lost, but didn't since we didn't know at the time if the electricity was to stay on or not. Fortunately, it did, and I went back to my game the next day.
The other thing is that most schools where I live never, EVER, close. That was probably the first time in 20 years that they had to shutdown the school network in my region. The kids that actually have power were very happy, since we didn't get school for two weeks! The only other time I remember them closing was when it snowed like three feets in height in a single day, but that was afterwards.
Anyways, I've wrote enough for today. Later!
